On Monday, 13 April 2026, the Club’s new indoor badminton hall at King George Hall, Geetha Road, Robertsonpet, was formally opened for play. The hall brings synthetic shuttle courts under one roof, so members can play through the summer heat and the monsoon alike.

A morning of pooja and a ribbon cutting

The day began with a traditional pooja at the entrance to the hall. Members and office bearers sat with the priest before an altar of flowers, fruit and lamps, seeking blessings for the new facility and for everyone who will play in it.

Once the pooja was complete, the ribbon was cut at the doorway of the hall, and members and guests walked in to see the courts for the first time. The hall was decorated with flowers and bunting for the occasion.

What the new hall offers

The courts are laid with a green synthetic surface, marked for play and fitted with nets and posts. Synthetic flooring gives steady grip and a little cushioning underfoot, which is kinder on knees and ankles than a hard floor.

Overhead, bright LED lights run the length of the hall, so evening sessions are as easy to play as morning ones. Seating along the side wall gives room for members waiting their turn, families and spectators during tournaments.

Built with support from the MP fund

The hall carries a Government of India plaque naming it the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium. The plaque records a contribution of Rs 53 lakh from the Parliament Member fund of Sri S. Muniswamy, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Kolar constituency, towards KGF (Cosmopolitan Club) King George Hall. The plaque itself is dated 16 March 2024.

The Club thanks Sri S. Muniswamy for the grant, and everyone who saw the work through, from the committee and staff to the builders on site.

Playing on the new courts

The courts are open to members. Court bookings are to be entered at the desk, as for the other courts. Timings, guest rules and any coaching sessions will be put up on the club notice board.
