Rules of the K.G.F. Cosmopolitan Club, Robertsonpet, K.G.F.

The Club shall be known as "KGF Cosmopolitan Club".

The office of the Club shall be located in the King George Hall, Geetha Road, Robertsonpet, KGF.

The Club hall was constructed to commemorate the Coronation at Delhi of their Imperial Majesties King George V and Queen Mary on 12 December 1911. The Club shall provide recreation to its members by way of indoor and outdoor games, literary activities, concerts, theatrical and dramatic performances and such other entertainments and amusements as may be devised by the management to facilitate the physical, intellectual, cultural and moral improvement of the members.

All ladies and gentlemen of local standing shall be eligible for permanent membership, provided they were temporary members for a period of six months.

Any person owing to his higher position and status in life, or any member of the Club, may be elected an Honorary member without having to pay the Club subscription, at the discretion of the Executive Committee.

Any such person or member may become a life member on payment of Rs. XXXX. If he takes part in the amusements and games of the Club, he shall pay the usual charges.

Membership shall ordinarily be terminated: if, in the Executive Committee's opinion, a member's conduct is injurious to the Club's interest, without reason assigned; if a member refuses to abide by these rules; or if dues remain unpaid for three consecutive months. Termination does not affect the Club's right to collect arrears.

Resignations are addressed to the Hon. Secretary and Treasurer and take effect from the first of the month of application, for subscription purposes, but do not cancel a member's existing indebtedness. Where a majority of the Executive Committee considers a member's continuance prejudicial to the Club, the member is called on by registered letter to explain within 15 days; an unsatisfactory or absent explanation leads to removal from office or membership. Such business is treated as confidential throughout.

The Executive Committee has power to determine the admission fee and subscription of members from time to time. Subscriptions are paid in advance.

The Club's affairs are administered by an Executive Committee of the President, Vice-President, Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, and sixteen members (four nominated by the Committee). The Committee remains in office until successors are appointed.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kolar District is the President of the Club. Should he decline, the President is elected at the Annual General Meeting. The President chairs all Executive Committee meetings; the Vice-President presides in his absence, or an elected Committee member in the absence of both.

The Hon. Secretary and Treasurer convenes meetings, issues notices, records proceedings, conducts correspondence, keeps accounts, carries out committee decisions, collects subscriptions, pays accounts, and safeguards the Club's movable and immovable property. With the Committee's approval, the Secretary may represent the Club in courts of law, including filing and defending suits.

The Committee sanctions expenditure, invests Club funds safely and profitably, and acts generally in furtherance of the Club's objects and the protection of its property, subject to these rules. Vacancies occurring within two years may be filled by nomination. The Committee may frame bye-laws for its own management, provided no bye-law contravenes the recognised rules.

Five for ordinary Committee meetings; 25% of members for a general meeting. Absent a quorum, members present sign the proceedings book after 15 minutes and adjourn to a future date; the adjourned meeting proceeds whether or not a quorum is present.

Office-bearers and Committee members are elected once every two years at the Annual General Meeting, following a published member list, a published voter list, scrutinised nominations, and printed voting slips distributed by the Hon. Secretary. Canvassing inside the meeting venue is prohibited. Three tellers appointed by the President of the meeting decide the result by simple majority. Members in default of dues for more than three months may not vote, move resolutions, or stand for election.

The official year of the Club is the calendar year.

The Executive Committee may rent the hall to concert, dramatic and other parties, with or without fees, provided it does not interfere with members' privileges. Fees are at the Committee's discretion.

The Executive Committee may appoint sub-committees of a recommendatory nature; they cannot take decisions independently without the Committee's approval.

The Club remains open on all days from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The Executive Committee may close the Club on any day or at any time as necessary, with prior notice on the board.

Members and stewards (male 16 years and female 18 years) have the right to enjoy the Club's facilities and privileges. Additional charges fixed by the Committee for any game or facility are paid by the member using it.

Members and visitors using the Club are required to be suitably attired, in keeping with the status of the Club.
